Clinical Innovation Zone (CIZ)

Their Clinical Innovation Zone (CIZ) provides 22,000 square foot of high specification units where businesses can co-locate to easily access clinical know-how and research in the field of precision medicine. Precision Medicine enables researchers to identify and develop treatments that are effective for particular groups of patients using advanced new genomic, imaging and information technologies. Their short-term ambition is to be a global centre of excellence for chronic disease, precision medicine and imaging.

Complex chemical systems

The University of Glasgow is leading exciting research investigating how chemistry can revolutionize modern technology, be developed using artificial intelligence, and even create life. Their research aims to:

  • impact the quality of life and life expectancy by developing advanced healthcare technologies. They will develop diagnostic tools and novel stem-cell based engineering solutions to target disease before symptoms are evident.
  • develop a range of new chemical robotic systems to implant into human avatars and robots, giving them human-like flexible cognitive abilities.

Campus development

They are undertaking a £1 billion estate investment to expand their campus and research & teaching facilities. The University is redeveloping the 14 acre site of the former Western Infirmary to build a mix of modern research, teaching and public spaces.

Our £90.6 million James McCune Smith Learning Hub is the first building due for completion in academic year 2019/20. It will provide a state of the art learning and the teaching facility with the capacity for over 2,500 students.
